The best tourist attractions of the Bieszczady Mountains:

  • Wild heart of Poland – the Bieszczady Mountains are one of the least populated and wildest places in Poland, with a unique flora and fauna.

  • Bieszczady National Park – occupies approximately 30% of the Bieszczady space, constituting a wildlife reserve and preserving the natural character of the mountains.
  • Mythical and magical atmosphere – the Bieszczady Mountains are famous for their mystical atmosphere, which attracts peace seekers and artists who want to escape from the hustle and bustle of civilisation.
  • Bieszczady night sky – it’s one of the best regions to observe stars in Poland, with the with the so-called ‘star sky park’.
  • Bieszczady draisines – a unique tourist attractions which takes you on a journey by a narrow-gauge railway through the picturesque routes of the Bieszczady Mountains.

 

Tourist guide in a nutshell: 

  • Safety – It is advisable to inform somebody about your planned route and the approximate time of your return. Remember to always adjust the difficulty of the trail according to your experience.
  • Water and food – On many Trails, there is no drinking water, so make sure to take a sufficient amount of water and food with you for the entire trek. You won’t find any shops in the more remote areas.
  • Nature and wildlife – The Bieszczady Mountains are home to many wild animal, including wolves, lynx and bison. Be careful and respect wildlife, do not approach animals and do not make any noise.
  • Peace and quiet – The Bieszczady Mountains are famous for the unique peace they offer you. It’s a true oasis of silence far away from the hustle and bustle of big city life. Remember not to litter and not to disturb this impeccable peace.
  • Trails and attractions – Bieszczady offer a variety of trails, from easy walking to more challenging ones. Popular attractions are the Tarnica Peak, the Wetlińska Pasture, the Bieszczady Forest Railway or the Solina Lake.
  • High season – Most tourists come here in summer months. And in winter, the Bieszczady Mountains become a paradise for the fans of cross-country skiing and winter hiking. The most picturesque season here is definitely autumn.
