Royal Engagement - The Most Beautiful Love Story of Łańcut
"In the shadow of an old tree in Łańcut, a love was born that united two extraordinary people – King Władysław Jagiełło and Elżbieta Granowska."
What to Expect
Many events involving powerful families, politics, and the region's history have been recorded in the history of Łańcut. However, one of the most beautiful stories connected with this place is not about power, but about love. It is here, according to local tradition, that the love story of King Władysław Jagiełło and Elżbieta Granowska took place – a woman for whom the monarch was willing to follow the call of his heart.
In March 1417, Jagiełło, returning from Lithuania to Poland, stopped in Łańcut, which belonged to Elżbieta Granowska. It seems that the decision about the marriage was made there.” Then the wedding took place on May 2, 1417, in Sanok.
