‘Chestnut Tree Alley’ – full of life and flavour’
The so-called Chestnut Tree Alley (Aleja Pod Kasztanami) in Rzeszów is like a green oasis in the very centre of the city. Here, you will catch your breath again and forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The chestnut trees have magic within, which makes every step feel like dancing in the wind. What can you expect?
- The oldest alley in Rzeszów – built at the turn of the 19th and 20th century and remains a remarkable piece of art to this day.
- Historic architecture – along the avenue stand beautiful, old villas from the turn of the 19th and 20th century, for instance an Art Nouveau villa or a former residence of the Lubomirski family.
- Autumn spectacle – when the chestnut trees lose their leaves and fruits, the alley turns into a romantic gold tunnel, perfect for nostalgic strolls.
- Instagram hit – picturesque trees, old villas and soulful light make the alley one of the most photogenic places in Rzeszów!
Important notice:
- The moat of the Lubomirski Castle in Rzeszów is so much more than a historical remnant of the fortifications, it is a place bursting with life, a meeting and cultural event avenue. Located between the Castle and the Chestnut Tree Alley and the Lubomirski Alley, the wide, grassy moat has become the favourite spot for family picnics and open-air leisure of the local inhabitants. The gentle descent on the side of the Chestnut Tree Alley makes the place easily accessible even for prams.
- Recently, the moat has been given a new life thanks to the ‘FOSA’ initiative (fosa means a moat in Polish). It is a cultural and catering project which attracts the people of Rzeszów and tourists with various attractions. The moat regularly houses concerts, sports activities such as yoga and Pilates. On warm days, it literally bursts with life, offering loungers and stands with refreshing beverages and delicious pizza.
